[/artsist notes] Tbh, I'm very dissadisfied with the colors, since, upon starting, I was still operating under the misconception that coloring a greyscale painting is a valid option -but let me tell you: It is not. Filed under: Another lesson learned.BUT(!!!) this also shows that shitty colors cannot completely destroy an drawing in which the values are (mainly) correct and consistent. A big triple-WHOOP to that! And big thanks goes out to *Olessan, without whom I probably would just have left it as it was xD Making the initial painting, however, was incredibly fun and gawd...I love painting (anthro) so damn much. -I may be doing some 'master studies' (`balaa, *CoyoteMange and the like) to try out other, more detailed, styles of painting fur and then there's still all those gifts to do. For after the those are done, there's also another big painting with lots of background already sketched out -let's just hope I'll be able to cram all that into the Christmas Holidays [/notes end]
PS CS4, ~10h Stock used (can the bg be called matte painting? idk @_@) [link] , [link]
Wow, it turned out great! It was a good learning experience, I'd guess. Not entirely sure why but I quite like the shadows on his right (viewer's left) leg and that side of his flank. :3

Yes, the shadows on the ground would definitely have benefitted from some more definition c:
